Assisted Home Performance
NYSERDA’s Assisted Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® program helps income-eligible families and individuals by providing additional financial incentives for reducing heating/cooling costs and improving the safety of homes through qualifying energy efficiency measures. Income-eligible households can receive a subsidy (Assisted Subsidy) representing up to 50% of an approved energy efficiency project: up to $5,000 for a single family home and up to $10,000 for 2-4 family residences. The balance of the project cost is eligible for financing. PathStone is a Constituency-Based Organization (CBO) that connects individuals and families to financial, educational, and technical assistance to take advantage of these programs.
Eligible New Yorkers include borrowers in 1-4 family homes that have household incomes at or below 80% of the State Median or Area Median Income (whichever is greater). Households must also be assessed the System Benefits Charge (SBC) through one of the following investor-owned electric or gas utilities: Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation, Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc., National Grid, New York State Electric & Gas Corporation, Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc., or Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation.

PathStone will provide assistance to any eligible households within the Finger Lakes Region.

Participating in The Program:
When you participate in the Assisted Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® Program you will be working with a Building Performance Institute (BPI) Accredited Home Performance Contractor. BPI Contractors have been trained in taking a ‘whole-house’ approach when testing your home and identifying where energy efficiency upgrades can be made. Eligible measures and minimum equipment standards for this grant program are generally similar to those required for 1-4 family homes under the New York Residential Loan Fund, with a few exceptions.

Certain eligible measures may qualify for an additional subsidy under the Assisted Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® Program if they meet Savings-to-Investment ratio guidelines. Qualifying measures may include insulation, heating systems, air sealing / draft reduction, ventilation, appliances, and hot water heaters. Find out if you are income eligible for an EmPower project.
